Born February 16th, 1914 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, the son of a coal miner, his family moved to Detroit in the early 1920's. He first started as a journeyman, then a die maker at Superior Tool & Die in Detroit. His skills took him to Heidrich Tool & Die as a master die maker, rising to plant superintendant and eventually co-owner and vice president of Heidrich Tool and Die of Oak Park, Michigan, the 3rd largest tool and die operation within the state of Michigan serving Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. Well known within the industry, Julius was consulted on the material and shape of the first nose cone for the space program. Julius befriended an up and coming inventor in the 1960's, Stan Ovshinsky, leasing space to him for his lab in the back of the plant. His zest for life included golfing, being a 60 plus year member of Plum Hollow Golf and Country Club of Southfield, Michigan, and a regular yearly participant in the Ross Miller American Cancer Society Golf Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. Julius was also an avid semi-pro bowler. He and his wife were past members of the NOMADS, as they enjoyed world traveling. Julius was a past member of the Detroit Cardinal's Club and benefactor of many Catholic charities. Most of all he was a devoted father and mentor to others. He is predeceased by his wife Michaleen and his seven siblings. Father of Sharon (Ted) Keranen and Ron (Elizabeth) Schensky. Grandfather of Michael G.
